Saranda Diving is a PADI 5 Star Dive Center in Saranda on Albania's Ionian coast. We offer PADI training from beginner certification through continuing education and professional-level courses, with a focus on small groups and local diving experience.

Which PADI course is right for you?
The right course depends mainly on your current certification, experience and what you want to do next.
PADI Open Water Diver is the starting point if you want to become a certified scuba diver. It combines theory, confined-water skill development and four open-water training dives.
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver is for certified divers who want to develop their skills and gain experience through five Adventure Dives. Deep and Underwater Navigation are included, together with three additional Adventure Dives.
PADI Rescue Diver focuses on preventing problems, recognising diver stress and responding to diving emergencies. Emergency First Response (EFR) is a separate training programme.
PADI Divemaster is the first professional level in the PADI system. It requires previous diving qualifications and experience and involves a much longer training commitment than recreational courses.
Choosing the cheapest or shortest course is not always the best approach. Start with the course whose prerequisites you meet and make sure you have enough time during your stay to complete the training properly.
How does the PADI Open Water course work?
For most new divers, Open Water is the course that needs the most explanation. It is divided into three main parts.
Knowledge development
You learn the essential principles of scuba diving, including equipment, dive planning, underwater communication and basic safety procedures.
Depending on the arrangement confirmed for your course, some of this learning may be completed using official PADI digital learning before or during your stay in Saranda.
Confined-water training
Before your open-water training dives, you practise essential scuba skills in controlled conditions.
These sessions cover areas such as equipment use, breathing underwater, mask skills, buoyancy control and emergency procedures.
Open-water training dives
The course includes four open-water training dives with a PADI Instructor. This is where you apply the knowledge and skills developed during the earlier parts of the course.
Completing the course is based on meeting the required knowledge and water-skill standards. Paying for the course or attending for a certain number of days does not by itself guarantee certification.
How many days should you allow for Open Water?
Our published planning time for the PADI Open Water Diver course is 3–4 days.
PADI also explains that many students can complete the confined-water and open-water portions within three or four days when knowledge development has been completed beforehand.
However, PADI courses are performance based. If you need additional time to become comfortable with a skill, the training should not be rushed simply to fit a flight or hotel checkout.

Why take a PADI course in Saranda?
Course training is based at our dive center in Saranda, on the Ionian coast of southern Albania.
We use controlled shallow-water areas and local open-water dive sites selected according to the course, the students and conditions on the day. A specific training site or perfect visibility cannot be guaranteed because sea conditions can change.
Training in Saranda gives you the opportunity to learn in a real coastal diving environment while having access to continued PADI education from beginner through professional level.
Saranda is located in Vlorë County, but it is not Vlorë city. Course training starts from Saranda, so if you are staying in Ksamil, Himarë, Vlorë city or elsewhere on the Albanian Riviera, allow enough travel time to reach the dive center for your confirmed start time.
Course languages and learning materials
Dive briefings are available in English, Italian, Greek and Albanian.
